spruce is a landscape design firm that specializes in residential and commercial projects.  Our philosophy is to seamlessly integrate the landscape and architectural environments.  The design is a collaborative process to understand the client's vision, needs, and budget and marry those with a layout that incorporates the ideal plants and material for the style.  With projects ranging from simple bed plantings to full-scale master plans, spruce believes that each project is an opportunity to create memorable spaces.

spruce was founded by Elena Andrews, owner | designer.  Elena's first career was in the architectural field.  With an undergraduate degree and graduate degree in architecture from the University of Virginia and Princeton University, respectively, she spent the majority of her career at a major architecture firm in Los Angeles, where she specialized in master plans and architectural programming for colleges and universities.  Upon returning to her hometown of Columbus, Ohio, Elena decided to switch gears and pursue her longtime love of landscape design.  She attended Columbus State Community College and obtained her Associates Degree in Landscape Design and Management before launching spruce in 2016.

In addition to running her own company, Elena is a staff consultant to the City of Bexley's Tree and Public Gardens Commission.
